The Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology

The Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology consists of two Institutes: Pedagogy, and Psychology, which offer two study programmes. The research objectives of the Institute of Pedagogy are mainly education and upbringing in the context of the Polish education reform and education of the Poles in the process of socio-political transformations at the turn of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The major directions of long-term research conducted at the Institute of Psychology focus on psychological, social and biological determinants of human activity. The Institute currently offer programmes in the following specializations: clinical, social, educational and psychoprophylactic. The Faculty has full academic rights in pedagogy and the right to confer doctoral degrees in psychology. It cooperates with several foreign centres in the UK, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Hungary, Norway and Holland. It organizes research trips abroad and international conferences, and holds lectures by visiting lecturers. The academic staff edit and contribute to the Faculty’s two annual publications: “Annales Universitatis Mariae Curie-Sklodowska” Sectio Paedagogia-Psychologia and “Lubelski Rocznik Pedagogiczny [Lublin Pedagogical Yearbook]”.
